Lotru, lotru, lotrisor

Intors din concediu de pe meleaguri oltelenesti, m-am gindit sa impartasesc citeva ginduri pentru prieteni. Si cum s-ar putea altfel decit cu ajutorul citorva imagini de la sine graitoare :)

Destinatie: Voineasa, jud. Vilcea
Altitudine: 600 - 750 m
Atmosfera: excelenta

Prin imprejurimi sunt citeva locuri de vazut printre care as aminti salba de lacuri de pe Lotru. Cel mai apropiat la care ne-am deplasat ar fi Lacul Balindru si barajul aferent cit si lacul Vidra.

Pentru amatorii de drumetii ar fi indicat un urcus pina la Obirsiile Lotrului  - 4 ore de mers pe jos de la Obirsie (nimic altceva decit o rascruce de drumuri). De aici puteti urca pe Transalpina - sus catre Ranca - Novaci fie spre Sebes in directia opusa. Pina la Ranca ne-am aventurat si noi apoi am facut cale-ntoarsa catre casa. Pentru amatorii de senzatii tari si condus pe serpentine neasigurate - recomand cu multa caldura si placute de frine :D acest traseu. Acestea fiind spuse va doresc vizionare placuta si nu in ultimul rind luati in considerare un concediu petrecut pe Valea Lotrului - nu o sa va para rau deloc. Linistea si aerul curat de acolo nu se compara deloc cu atit de aglomerata Vale a Prahovei.

Că tot ne topim cu toţii zilele astea sub arşiţa razelor necruţătoare precum analiştii politici "excitaţi" sub lumina reflectoarelor de studio, ne afundăm opincile în asfaltul topind emanind arome pestilenţiale precum flatulaţiile intelectuale emanate recent de Guvern si Preşedenţie, şi daca peste toate astea ai mai fost blagoslovit sa iţi cîstigi existenta alaturi de traşcaleta vesnic flaminda de titei apoi sa ma ierte Al de Sus, da si la un stranut al calutilor de sub capota s-ar putea sa te doara de zici ca te-a executat silit din UE toata emisfera vestica.

Ca uite asa dragii mei paţii si eu una de am s-o bag la cap in vremea ori vremurile urmatoare.

Sa fie mai bine de o saptamina cind intr-o fuga si-un heyrup am fost nevoit sa plec in Moldova - altminteri draga si frumoasa noastra Moldova de la Botşeni spre vale. Doar ca jucaria cu pricina - adica trascaleta mea - era trasa pe dreapta-n garaj de mai bine de-o alta saptamina torida pe motiv de ajustari. Si cum mi-am luat eu avint nici 1km nu cred sa fi parcurs din poarta service-ului pina cind incepe sa mi se para ca aerul conditonat odata viguros ca brandu' lui Schwartzy torcea blind ca un ventilator Domotec ori Pawasonic. Frumos n-am ce zice. Stinga-nprejur pe linie continua si-o baba pe galben cu scirt - rotile nu baba saraca ca nici scirt nu mai au cum sa faca saracii ca de, le-a mincat pensia basescu. Ca bla bla, ca eu cind am adus-o la voi acu 10 zile mergea de n-avea taine s.a.m.d. ce mai incoace si-ncolo omul de buna credinta si-a adus si el aminte la un moment dat ca "parca" mergea aerul cind am miscat-o prin hangar... Corect! Asa ca ce-i de facut? Trage repede un aspirator cit casa multifunctional multidetoate si zice: stai ca o rezolvam. Scoatem freon, vidam, testam : NU AVEM PORI afiseaza fericit la sfirsit de procedura chestia desteapta care dupa asta baga iara freon. 100 lei scurt.

Ce-a avut d'le? Nu stiu, sincer - vine rapid raspunsul plin de sinceritate si compasiune al călaului :D

Pai da... asa au spus si aia de ieri cind am plecat spre mare. A, deci am uitat sa va povestesc cum am ales cu o zi inainte sa o fac pe culantul cu firma si sa merg alaturi de dragul nostru si bun prieten Acrim- de la livrari. Si cum dimineata ne-am trezit o slehta de idioti invirtindu-ne ca niste titirezi pe linga ditamai Master-ul sa gasim noi poate cauza ptr care vineri a avut AC iar azi, luni pur si simplu e mort... Trist, insa baietii de la service (altul) au zis ca "ce sa faşi dle... se mai uzeaza freonul acolo in sistem si de-aia... se mai pierde si el din cind in cind"... mama lui dar de pezevenghi ca de aia e el freon si are termen de garantie bag seama precum parfumul ieftin de levantica. Asa ca bagara repede o butelie cu gaz si pe cai ca se filmeaza! Pina la-ntoarcere numa jumate din intreg ca am si simtit cum esapamentul vamaiotilor intirziati ne intra in alveole la temperatura de baragan canicular...

Si pe seara ajung fericit totusi la Botseni in cautare de hotel. Maria parca. Doar ca 3 harti si toate 3 il gaseau dar ma luau toate drept elicopter bag seama. Dupa juma de ceas cred ca vecinii de pe la blocurile din cale invatasera deja nr de inmatriculare si se uitau strimb... sa fie oare vreun hot care da tircoale? Ia sa fim noi mai atenti ca e dubios asta - n-a mai trecut de vreo 4 ori prin fata pe aici adineauri? Ori e retard? Ca GPS atirna parca in parbriz acolo... Dar Nu si mintea romanului cea de pe urma. Aia atirna in nicotina dragii mei cind incins am purces la o excursie cu autopocioarele in centrul orasului - superba faleza - Str Unirii pe care n-am s-o uit curind - ce imi aduce aminte de centrul Brailei sau Lipscaniul de acasa unde nu-i chip sa calce roata pe asfalt. Imi venea sa palmez clopotelul de la receptie ajuns odata acolo lac de transpiratie ca un cal de olimpiada :) exclus la examenul medical pe motive de obezitate. Tare mirata n-a fost tanti receptionera de 4 stele cind i-am relatat pe scurt patania - lasind sa-i scape ca de fapt este ceva relativ comun pentru clientii noi. Uf, m-am mai linistit. Aveam impresia ca mi-au crescut mie dioptriile si trebuie sa bag iar mina adinc sa-mi schimb inaintasii ciobiti de fimiu acu un an ori poate am facut eu insolatie de la Tisita'n-coa. Am luat-o frumusel revers ca sa inteleg si eu ca de fapt intrarea e o alee mica si inguata din Eminescu sub tufe apoi bariera si platesti lui Wall-E.

A trecut, n-a durut dar parca ale 42° C ale lui Busu la mine-n masina-s 50... Mama lor dar de hoti!

Da iara o murit tot freonu? O saptamina? Super nene. Bine ca eram acasa.

Dau repede de astia -altii acum - diagnoza chestii serioase fix cu acelasi aparat pe care-l vazusem si la primii  -  un fel de RMN al frigotehnistilor auto cu care, la freon, vine frumusel si o substanta de contrast la pachet - 125lei - e scump dle mercaptanu' asta fosforescent ca d-aia iau aia 100 si bla bla.. etc. Reveniti in 2 zile.

Sau chiar miine pe la 3 ca am ramas de caruta pe Pasaj. Si nu stiu cum am dat buzna peste ei. Dar...  maladictude, din ciclul emisiunii nemuritoare ale banicai tvr-iste nea Ilie de la scularie, dupa ce s-a invirtit un ceas sa dea jos spoilerul - intre timp unu destept cu un neon ( pardon lampa m-a corectat respectivul ) pusese deja verdictul: radiator de clima! In timp ce eu ii fluturam disperat telefonul ca daca nu stie exact care sunt suruburile am eu manualul in PDF de la logan iar mina stinga se facu girofar ca orele treceau si eu asteptam ba sa vina radiatorul ba al doilea radiator iar Iliuta al meu septagenar se-nvirtea ca un mic ceva intr-o caldare - ba mai mult, imprudent si cu rupinfundism feroce astepta sa vina sefu sa-l mai ia la ranga daca termina vara asta: Sa mori tu nea ca n-ai mai desfacut bara de MCV? Si ti-am zis sa nu mai spui ca nu sti (pe un ton mai moale) - o fi fost bunicu lui si il tinea la atelier ca altfel nu-mi explic.

By the way! Emisiunea cu pricina se numea Surprize Surprize prieteni - pentru cei mai tineri dintre voi care nu au fost intoxicati de mame, prietene, iubite, sotii ori amante.

Pai cum sa Nu trosneasca odata cu dorsalul unui biet Peugeut 206 frinat brusc in calea uraganului in urma cu 3 luni, bara de protectie ascunsa parca parsiv sub spoiler-l fata dragutul de el - care nu a crapat, nu s-a gririat ci s-a deformat usor si tandru ca un sin fraged sub greutatea feroce a taurului sapiens.

Si ce ma bucuram eu atunci ca mi-am luat Logan si ca aia pe la Euro ÎNCap îs fraieri ca nu baga Lodgie pe banda chiar daca nu vrea francezu.

Saraca fata cit o fi alergat cu amiabila aia pe la alte SRL-uri de cartier ca si mine cu Ilici si Marinei capsomani care intreapta bara de otel in mijlocul stazii pe trotuar proptiti in coarda de un stilp. Da, ati auzit bine ca la prima incercare de a scoate radiatorul de clima plin de pori in mod paradoxal a tisnit un jet dulce si intepator de antigel din cel principal. Infundate ambele amindoua de funduletul 206-lui avariat cu 3 luni in urma - guilty as charged!

GPS navigation on our smart-phones in Romania

Hello everybody!

Because for so long this has been a hobby of mine - so many years now already - last time I checked it's been almost 7 years from my first NUVI 310 PDA from Garmin - I decided to share with you some personal thoughts and experience related to modern drive navigation targeted on mobile phones.

As I was telling you, my first encounter was a Garmin PNA, a.g. NUVI 310, running RO.A.D 2006 map - that's one of the best outsourced Garmin compatible map on the market for our country, Romania. That my friends, with later updates - official and not always very orthodox ways of getting latest flavour from the developer, was and still is the standard in local map coverage here. You can check online and see for yourself what I'm talking about.

But enough about Garmin Romania a.k.a. Sheba Distribution SRL and their work right now - simply because starting from last year when they decided to add great improvements for the product itself and involve into a rightful battle against piracy - that blocked them to evolve so many years - the price tag became unncacesible and they immediately sloped into professional zone targeting hobbyists and enthusiasts not average consumer like you and me who simply wants to get from A to B on the roads. It's some other level of map coverage detail and some other type of work involved thanks to Mr. Bogdan Condurateanu who did a great job in all this years and was a pioneer himself in Romania when started 'Proiectul Romania Digitala' (Digital Romania Project) along time ago...

So, starting from title I decided to share with you some other interesting stuff regarding car navigation and choices when it comes about mobile opportunities.

I will not get into detail about every app available on the market right now, nor the functionality of this apps (hopefully I'll have some time in the near future to start this subject), just a fair comparison of Romania's map level of detail provided by tho different map providers on the market right now.

First one, and possibly one of the largest map provider for the whole world is NAVTEQ, a NOKIA Company basically - available on the stage a long time ago from now, and with a strong relationship with the U.S. navigation solution company GARMIN. Navteq along with GARMIN spoiled us time and again with City Navigator® Europe NT witch is again one of the best solution for the whole EU this time including Romania (not so lately so good developed though - they also had to start from scratch and did a great job lately). I'm not currently a user of GARMIN anymore simply because I have migrated to mobile solutions, two years ago to be more exactly - first one was a Nokia E72 and now a great Android device witch is a Samsung Galaxy I9100.

Of course I keep on going back to my first love, Garmin, and I have to mention a small thing about a Symbian app that was available for years for Symbian users - giving them the possibility to use Garmin maps on their phones... It's about Garmin Mobile XT that I don't really know if it is still available to buy officially from them.

Now it's time to NOKIA :) Why? Because ever since they have decided to give away freely the maps from their own cartography baby NAVTEQ for the clients and owners of such mobile gadgets, things started to get attention to many people. OviMaps was the first name if you remember the logos:

Now it simply changed its name into NokiaMaps (witch makes more sense), and it is available free for anybody online and of course for Nokia smartphone owners as a navigation solution. A GR8 one I might add.

Because Symbian it's slowly dying and Nokia is slowly sinking meanwhile Andoid it's gaining more and more attention on the market, the rightful step is to talk about Android alternatives.

So here there are besides free Google Navigation witch is a mess:

First one is from the great Garmin again and is called NAVIGON Mobile signed Garmin Würzburg GmbH (that's GARMIN Germany of course) . With it's pluses and minuses this one is overall a good app and a fine in-car navigation solution for Android mobiles. Here is the QR code for the product we are interested here in Romania, attention everybody, it's not free as it is normal in this case, and besides Google Checkout you will be provided also with in-app purchase add-on's including updates for the maps provided by NAVTEQ. One of the things I find extremely interesting about this app is Google Local Search that gives you the chance to search for a specific POI on your route with the help of Google Maps.

On the other pole, last but not least comes in the picture very powerful another great app from our friends in FYROM, more exactly Croatia, and this is Mireo with their solution called DON'T PANIC and is available even as a trial also on Google Play (opposed to Navigon witch is NOT). Mireo is not foreign from GPS business at all and a fearful competitor worldwide and very present even on PDA's right now. Why? Because they have more than one contract with map providers like TomTom one of the biggest competition for NAVTEQ; but a great move was to integrate alongside TomTom and own maps (because they have done locally exactly what Sheba did in Romania), other independent map providers from different companies  / countries, giving the user the best choice to use the more adequate map with the most detail for it''s country - an in-app system works here as well but don't forget this time, in contrast with NAVIGON you can buy only the map for the country you're interested in. In this case however you will have to pay again for every map upgrade unfortunately - witch is not so good right now but this is about to change maybe in the future if the things are going in the right direction for them, and have the opportunity to get latest map upgrades for free for the the device's life - as it is right now for some Google Play Mireo's flavors - or maybe paying a fee. You can get it from Google Play for free as a try & buy app.

The routing is great, functionality overpases even NAVIGON, and the map is provided by Suncart - local provider you maybe heard of from IGo probably.

Well, lately it seems like they hit the jackpot with their exclusive Suncart 2012.3 release, witch has more improvements on map detail level for us here than even Nokia or Navigon has integrated - on some parts, especially when it comes about riding the big-ones - and I mean here the main roads anh highways, big cityes and so on. The routing is great and customizable, easy to configure and ... but enough with the words, you should try for yourself and come with your own conclusion.

In the end, I would really like to give you some screenshots from the actual maps provided by the three providers I have talked about, and the level o detail on each and every one of them as they are right now on 10th of June 2012.

L.E.: I have decided not to add Nokia's Drive Navigation's screenshot's because of the lack of time - I will simply try and add them later these days. Meanwhile I just assure you they are all more or less the same as Navigon's maps simply because they use the same map from NAVTEQ, and small differences occur and some graphic involved - great thought from Nokia also.
